Overview
The AI leadership – AI delivery and organisational transformation apprenticeship unit is a five-day live training programme designed for senior leaders responsible for overseeing the implementation, integration, and scaling of AI systems within their organisation.
This unit focuses on enabling leaders to guide AI-enabled transformation in a strategic, sustainable, and responsible way. It supports participants in aligning AI delivery with long-term organisational goals, embedding governance and compliance frameworks, managing workforce impact, and ensuring that deployed AI systems are monitored effectively.
The programme blends strategic insight with practical leadership capability. Learners will develop the confidence to lead AI transformation across technical and non-technical teams, communicate opportunities and risks clearly, and embed holistic governance across the AI lifecycle.
Prerequisites
This apprenticeship unit is designed for:
- Senior leaders and managers
- AI sponsors and programme owners
- Heads of function with AI accountability
- Leaders responsible for AI risk, governance, or transformation
No prior technical AI expertise is required. The course is designed for non-technical leaders who need to make informed, evidence-based decisions about AI adoption and oversight.

Outline
Module 1: Setting Direction for AI Transformation
This module explores the leadership responsibilities associated with delivering AI-enabled transformation. You will examine how leaders establish direction, define priorities, and create the organisational conditions required for successful implementation.
The module focuses on translating strategic intent into practical delivery decisions while maintaining alignment with organisational objectives and stakeholder expectations.
Module 2: AI and the Workforce
This module examines the impact of AI adoption on employees, teams, and organisational structures. You will explore how AI can reshape roles, skills requirements, workflows, and workforce planning.
You will also learn how leaders can engage employees effectively, address concerns, support reskilling and upskilling initiatives, and manage organisational change in a responsible and sustainable way.
Module 3: Ethics and Governance
This module focuses on the governance and compliance responsibilities associated with AI delivery. You will examine governance principles, accountability structures, ethical considerations, assurance processes, and regulatory obligations that influence AI implementation.
The module develops an understanding of how leaders create governance environments that support both innovation and accountability.
Module 4: Monitoring AI
This module explores the ongoing leadership responsibilities associated with deployed AI systems. You will examine monitoring approaches, risk management techniques, performance measurement, and methods for identifying issues such as model drift, emerging bias, degraded performance, and security vulnerabilities.
You will also explore accountability structures, escalation pathways, and crisis response approaches required to manage AI-related incidents effectively.
Module 5: Communicating AI Opportunities
The final module focuses on communication as a core leadership capability in AI-enabled organisations. You will learn how to communicate AI opportunities and risks clearly, translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences, and engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
The module also explores how leaders build trust, maintain transparency, and support informed decision-making through clear and balanced communication.

By the end of the programme, you will be able to lead AI-enabled organisational transformation, manage workforce and operational impacts, oversee governance and assurance activities, monitor AI systems effectively, and communicate confidently about AI opportunities and risks. You will be equipped to ensure AI initiatives deliver sustainable value while maintaining accountability, compliance, and stakeholder trust.
