Overview
This interactive 90-minute session introduces the core principles of effective leadership and helps learners understand how leadership differs from management in everyday work. Through guided reflection, simple tools, and realistic scenarios, participants explore the mindsets, traits, and behaviors that strengthen leadership impact, especially when navigating pressure or uncertainty. The session focuses on practical application, giving learners the chance to test leadership responses, recognize common pitfalls, and build confidence in choosing when to guide, when to support, and when to adapt. By the end, learners have a clearer sense of what effective leadership looks like and how to apply it consistently in their role.
Prerequisites
Participants should have:
- An interest in developing leadership capability, either as a new or aspiring manager.
- A willingness to participate actively in discussions and short exercises.
- No prior leadership training required.

- Leadership vs management: What separates leadership from management and why the difference shapes how people work and make decisions.
- Leadership mindset and traits: Mindset shifts and core traits such as clarity, empathy and adaptability that strengthen effective leadership
- Everyday leadership in action: Realistic scenarios where learners test leadership behaviors and build awareness of when to guide, listen or adapt.
Exams and assessments
There are no formal exams or graded assessments in this course. Learners will participate in practical exercises and reflection tasks to consolidate their understanding.
