Deploy and Manage Azure Arc-enabled Servers – Applied Skills Workshop

Overview

This course focuses on deploying and managing Azure Arc-enabled servers, which extends the management and governance capabilities of Azure to physical and virtual servers running outside of Azure, whether on-premises or in other cloud environments. Learners will explore key features such as Azure Policy, Update Management, and integration with Microsoft Defender for Cloud.

Prerequisites

• Experience using the Azure portal to create resources.
• Basic knowledge of security concepts, including identities, permissions, and encryption.
• Familiarity with networking concepts such as virtual networks and hybrid environments.
• Understanding of Azure Arc and Azure Policy.

Planning and deploying Azure Arc-enabled servers at scale

• Learn how to plan, secure, and deploy Azure Arc-enabled servers to manage multiple physical or virtual machines.

Governance through Azure Policy

• Use Azure Policy to implement consistent governance for hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Understand how to audit and enforce compliance across your Arc-enabled servers.

Configuring updates with Azure Update Manager

• Manage OS updates for Windows and Linux machines with Azure Update Manager, ensuring security and operational continuity.

Securing Arc-enabled servers with Microsoft Defender for Cloud

• Learn how Microsoft Defender for Cloud provides threat detection, vulnerability management, and proactive monitoring for Arc-enabled servers.

Managing Arc-enabled servers using automation

• Automate common administrative tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and predefined scripts to streamline the management of hybrid environments.

Guided Exercise: Managing on-premises servers using Azure Arc

• Hands-on lab where learners will onboard, secure, and monitor Windows and Linux servers using Azure Arc.

At the end of this course, participants can take the Azure Arc-enabled Servers Assessment to validate their ability to manage hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Successful candidates will earn a Microsoft Applied Skills credential, verifying their expertise in deploying and managing Azure Arc-enabled servers.
